Cyber-Posse - A new concept in Crime Fighting

I have been working on this concept for the past four years, but I could never get anyone at the Sheriff's Office to listen. So, I have basically started a website for the purpose of making the public aware of what could be done to effectively and inexpensively fight crime. I have just registered the domain www.cyber-posse.com but that won't be available for a few days. Until then you can access it via - http://www.shelbynet.com/cyber-posse or just click on the Cyber-Posse Logo.

Feel free to give me feedback on the concepts. I sincerely believe crime could be impacted significantly if my concept were put into action. It's a white paper in the works, and it's time has come.

Very impressive. I REALLY like the idea that I could get information back from the police on stuff going on in my neighborhood. I think you've hit not just a home run, but a grand slam. Why didn't they let you put this into action? You seem to be one of the few who actually knows what you are doing! I see where you are also running for Sheriff - I've seen enough - you've got my vote, and my family and anyone else I can talk to.

Great idea, I wish you success - for all our sakes.

If you don't win the Sheriff's race, and I fear you won't, are you still going to try to work on this idea?

Could you work with the MPD to develop this system?

It look like you da bomb. Why did Lutterl let you go?

Have you thought about meeting with some of the neighborhood associations to help them get a webteam setup?

WOW, that would be great to have a system like that in place. It gives a whole new way of Community policing. The public has so much untapped information that we could use, and what a great way to get it. Plus the public would get instant feedback on their reports which will build a better relationship with them. Im sure the good citizens would love to be involved in trying to catch criminals in their area and would love this. This is great LT. Good luck with it.

on the note of technology... W.A.S.P 2.0 doesn't compare to your original. i like the fact that with the old one, you could cross reference all the databases (tags to warrants to addresses, etc...)

i assume you didn't have anything to do with the "new" version.

No, they had a nerd do it and I'm told it requires internet connectivity. We used to take our laptops inside businesses and homes where you wouldn't have a connection, but because I designed WASP to be a hybrid system, you could still check warrants, MLGW, MVR and MHA data. We arrested 13 at the Union Mission one evening because we took the laptop in and held rollcall.

yep, it's web based now and does require a connection, not like the old days of downloading updates.

ahhhh. 383 poplar, the arm pit of downtown.

If you'll check with some of the Cooper-Young neighborhoods, you'll find a good model to base it on. Last night, I was talking to a young lady that lives in the neighborhood, and she was telling me that her neighborhood already does this. They get crime reports anytime anything happens in the area.
