Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Snow and crime apparently don't mix. This morning I received my daily update on crime stats from our analysts and it drove home the point that snow is a good thing!

Part I crimes were down 40 percent - for 1 day, over the same time last year, and 45% since 2006! Actually, we're doing much better driving crime down, and I know we'll never have a sustained decrease like this, but over several years we will have a continued decrease in crime.

Blue Crush, RTCC, CyberWatch, citizen watch groups, etc all have a hand in driving these numbers down. Be sure to watch for my report on the LPR cars and what we are doing with them over the next few weeks. We are 13 days away from launching the first "Stalker"!

let us know it increases 40 percent after the snow melts. They have to make a living you know and may make up lost time. Good news it is decreasing over all. I'm afraid it will start back up with the economy getting worse. Keep up the great work.

Today it has been one year since my seven year old son and I were robbed at gunpoint in front of our home in Midtown. The robber shot me in my face (a .38 cal bullet entering through my nose and exiting behind my ear) and made away with nothing (I had no cash or other belongings on me at the time). Since then, my experience has helped me to know the devastation behind the horrific stories of Memphis crime on the nightly news. I really enjoy your blog and appreciate your humor in keeping things light but real. Keep up the good work!

I'm sorry to hear you were assaulted. I lived in midtown for several years and the straw that broke the camels back, was the time a woman got shot at by her boyfriend. We moved to the county then.
