Experimenting With Google Maps API

I've been playing around with the Google Maps API to create data points on a map. I love the interface and the ability to display context sensitive info by clicking on an icon, but so far, it is unweildy for more than a handful of icons. Take a look at these examples and I think you'll agree, it's a nice interface, but once you go above 15 icons, it's a pig. I've posted the code with the Google Map API Newsgroups in hopes of finding the holy grail of speed/performance with these pages. Maybe someone will send me something useful.

5 crimes plotted

15 crimes plotted

and aaarrrggghhhhh 30 crimes plotted

You are right. It does look good. I like being able to click on the icons and see the crime info but, that page with 30 crimes is way too slow. Good luck on speeding it up.
